IceBlade 06-11-2009 06:50 PM

Probably can't run it but I suppose I'll try.

Stoner 06-11-2009 07:26 PM

i played that beta and the one that was leaked before it. both were pretty bad.

I got 4 bluescreens on the beta, and then after about an hour of tweaking, i was able to load a map in singleplayer, only to get 23 FPS on average settings with my two Nvidia 8800's in SLI.

Game also is MUCH slower paced than AA2, possibly slower than Ghost Recon if that gives you guys any idea how it plays.

No competition support also means im likely to be disappointed in the game. hopefully they'll prove me wrong though.

IceBlade 06-11-2009 09:45 PM

I loved Ghost Recon lol. We talking about AWF or the old ones? I seriously doubt I'll be able to run this game with this video card but I'm I'm ordering a new one now.

IceBlade 06-12-2009 10:47 AM

Yea I'm just going to wait 5 more days. Ordered my video card and a new PSU.

Napir 06-13-2009 02:20 PM

My PC can not handle AA 3 I tried it multiply times with other settings  - NO AA 3 for me for fuck sake!

IceBlade 06-13-2009 05:05 PM

Napir 06-14-2009 04:31 PM

aH cool Ice I only hope the rest off your pc is good enough, don't know if you looked at the specs for AA 3?

IceBlade 06-14-2009 08:19 PM

I have and yes the rest of my PC is more than capable :)

Napir 06-15-2009 11:21 AM

IceBlade 06-15-2009 05:29 PM

Napir 06-16-2009 11:13 AM

Bastard!! <3

IceBlade 06-16-2009 01:10 PM

All installed and ready to go! Hopefully it releases at midnight and not tomorrow during the day.

Napir 06-16-2009 04:48 PM

It releases more or less 21 hours from now.

IceBlade 06-16-2009 09:39 PM

So like 3pm tomorrow. GAY!

Zin 06-18-2009 06:41 AM

I am going to download the game now. . .

IceBlade 06-18-2009 10:52 AM

I can't even get it to run without it freezing when I complete the obstacle course.

Zin 06-18-2009 11:15 AM

Installing right now. Christ it's been so long since I've played (2 years) seriously and on a consistent basis I just might need the obstacle course hehe.

Zin 06-18-2009 11:33 AM

Do we have to create a new account or is our old info from AA2 still valid?

Zin 06-18-2009 05:09 PM

Ok so when will this thing not be a beta anymore, and be a full blown version in which we can play online? I don't know anything specific about aa3, just want to get on and fucking play.

IceBlade 06-18-2009 06:26 PM

The full version is out. If you downloaded the beta you dled the wrong one lol. I suggest using the AA3 deploy client to install and then patch it.

Paav21 06-19-2009 12:32 PM

I've downloaded it through Steam and played for about 20 minutes. Wow, maybe it is just me but my first impression is not very good. Compared to games like TF2 or even UT3 it feels like a plastic child's toy. Poor graphics, poor sound, poor controls...

I'll wait a few days for the servers to catch up to the demand and give it another try.

BTW - I play on Steam all the time. Just look up Paav21. See you around.

IceBlade 06-19-2009 12:47 PM

I can't even get the game to work. Steam says it's unable to find you. My steam ID is iceblade122

Napir 06-19-2009 05:01 PM

For all the people that don't catch up fast:

Now onto the not so good news. Less than 24 hours after the release almost the entire development team was nuked.

http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/59202

The article states that the number of developers cut is not known at this time but I can say out of the entire team I only see one coder left on the staff page. Other reports are indicating that there are only two left.

They state that development will continue in some capacity, but this this does not bode well for this game project. America's Army was started early in the Bush administration as a recruiting tool for the Army. That mission has continued to this day but there is also word that this Bush era program has suffered a major budget cutback.

Feydr:

I worked as a Dev at AA Emeryville for the last year and a half and I hope I can appeal to your rationality and common sense. I would like you to imagine trying to build a game with an impossible deadline, steadily declining workforce (via firings), A hiring freeze, constantly being fed misinformation, having the “higher ups” completely ignore your weekly plea for either A) more time, or B) more manpower, working a ton of unpaid overtime, pouring your heart and soul into a misadventure only to have the uniformed community scoff at you for uncontrollable variables….. RIGHT when you’ve just lost your job.

There are problems with the release beyond the devs control. In fact, the bureaucracy is so convoluted that you can’t even begin to imagine the breadth and scope of B.S. the devs had to deal with daily. in short, imagine being the subcontractor of a subcontractor of a contractor to the government. Sure Millions of dollars may have been poured into this project, but how much do you think made it to the actual DEV team, the people MAKING the game, after it was filtered by the bureaucracy?

I realize if you are a gamer, you rightly expect a game to work. period. But I would ask that you imagine for a second that you actually DON’T understand what it takes to make this particular game, and you really don’t understand the many obstacles that were placed in front of the Devs… in nerdy terms: A Kobiyashi maru.

What I would like you to understand is that the Devs did everything they could, worked a TON of unpaid overtime, put their time and passion into an un-winnable situation, and were effectively stabbed in the back. Many of these guys are my close friends, they have family to take care of, and overpriced rent to deal with. They just came off busting their butts for months, to be let go, without warning. Perhaps a little empathy is in order here.

Almost every multiplayer online game has problems upon release. These problems become exaggerated when a development team is kept in constant turmoil and paranoia via misinformation and a high rate of employee turnover. When the people you trust around you are being let go, it becomes difficult to emotionally invest yourself in the titanic sinking ship. Nonetheless, I can tell you the Devs STILL pushed themselves as hard as they could.

Furthermore, the problem with the game at this point, has everything to do with the authentication servers being slammed, A.K.A not a controllable variable by the Devs. Sure there are bugs, they WERE being fixed, and now you’ll be lucky to see any fixes in the near future.

For those of you who think Redstone arsenal will do a better job, well…. I won’t have to tell you that you’re sadly mistaken because you’ll see for yourself.

I’m not sure why i’ve felt compelled to write this when I’m sure it will get deleted, or even scoffed at further, but I hoped to let the fans know that we tried as hard as we could and are very bummed to see the fruits of our labor shoved at gamers like a heaping pile of crap.

So yes this is fucked up and 1 hot-fix patch will be released asap in max 2 days so people can play this unfinished game online (instead of offline in LAN) on servers and do the trainings.

I am glad that I didn't ordered my parts yet to upgrade my cpu, mobo etc. etc. - add me on steam Paav if you want? Napir|TWL is my steam display name.

IceBlade 06-20-2009 12:47 PM

I upgraded for SC2 and D3. Just thought I might as well do it now so I can get a piece of the AA action. But yea I read about the devs getting fired a couple days ago but wasn't sure on the accuracy of the reports. That's another reason I haven't bothered trying to get the game working. There isn't a team to fix it lol. Pretty shitty.

Napir 06-20-2009 02:04 PM

Yeah you right Ice and I will look around for another game now too - I guess I need to start google up and search for the games you are talking about for so long :freak:

IceBlade 06-29-2009 03:00 PM

They've released two patches and things are running a little bit better but I still crash a hell of a lot. The game takes some getting used to but so far it's pretty cool. Hard as hell to aim though.

Rathious 07-02-2009 12:30 PM

you should have gotten this ice but it is prolly to late to RMa your order to newegg. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16814102770

IceBlade 07-02-2009 01:10 PM

Mine was on sale when I bought it so it was fairly cheap. I was going for a budget card that could run the games I intend to be playing.
